“This is the Voice”

Three seasons ago my mom, dad, and I sat on the sofa and clicked through the TV Menu. Past CNN, but not without stopping, past Keeping Up With The Kardashians , no thank you, Alaskan Hunting, not for me, and finally the Voice.

It didn’t actually go exactly like that. My dad probably heard about it from someone or more likely my mom did. Or maybe they had already heard about it. IDK.

Why don’t we go through an episode of the Voice on a general night?

Shakira was probably teaching Blake what “supercilious” meant.

Blake was also showing his three trophies from the past years. Adam was probably dying his hair blonde and mocking Blake.

Usher is sitting relaxed in his leather jacket and gold shoes tuning it all out. I can never really tell…

Meanwhile, the contestant stands smiling on the stage but probably saying in there head, “I thought this was about ME, not them!”

Note:

I understand that you probably a pro Voice watcher yet. This is all unfamiliar, but please remain engaged.

I know that there are American Idol lovers out there but there’s not other way to state it than, the Voice is better.

There is definitely humor but it’s not harsh to the performers and MOST of the time to each other. (Maybe not the time Blake gave out Adam’s personal phone number, that didn’t go well.) One of the reasons why they aren’t harsh and have no reason to be is because the contestants on the show are stunning for the most part.

The Voice starts immediately with the principal: it’s not what you look like that matters, it’s The Voice. They have red seats turned toward the performer, in the blind auditions, and if they like the performance, they turn around there chair and just hope that the contestant will pick them.

After the judges each have a team of about 15 contestants or so they have the artists have to sing against other artists on their team and sometimes get booted off by there own coach.

After those rounds then it’s America’s turn to vote for the winner!

I can’t wait for next year will Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani, Adam and of course Blake Shelton! :)

One of my passions out of many that stands out is my love for redesigning. No matter how nice my room can be after having redecorated it, my room will always look better two months later when I re-redo it!

I’m petite for my age so Zara Girl is perfect because it’s European. Even though Shailene Woodley’s least favorite word is “stuff”, they have great stuff!
There clothes are definately a certain style and some of Zara Girls products seem a little bit young you can find very sophisticated clothes that even my mom would wear.
Their prices are cheaper than Nordstrom but more expensive Gap.

This week I am doing a 9-5 ballet camp that’s quite advanced! I am very excited to do it with my best friend plus all of the extra sleepovers. I left my old dance school for somewhere new that would care more about my dancing and not just the numbers. This new school is the school I will be having my camp.
Long story short, technically I’m supposed to be in 4 but in my older schools was moved down to 2. The situation is a little more complicated than that but more than anything I want a challenge and Ballet 2 was not sufficient enough to suit this need.
On Monday, I’ll be tested, inspected for which level I should go into this coming school years. Of course, I would love ballet 4 like my best friend but there’s always the possibility of 3.
My mom and I were in the ballet store picking out tights, ballet slippers, pins, hairnets, and most importantly leotards.
Via my best friend I know that ballet 4 is a blue leotard and ballet 3 is salmon.
So what did I choose? I know that it’s more likely I’ll be in 3 than 4 but still I’m confident in my dancing and am willing to be the worst in the class in 4 rather than the best in the class in 2 like at my most recent school.
My mom and I had a long discussion about it and I think that choosing the higher level leotard, as simple as that, could make me feel more confident, seriously.
If I dance in the lower level leotard I don’t look confident.
Confidence doesn’t always start you at the top of the class but is when you are willing to be at the bottom and work you’re way up to the top!

The Weepies-Say I Am You
You never hear anybody mention the Weepies but seriously this music should not go unheard.
Because they are in fact wife and husband there voices flow together perfectly creating a soft acoustic sound. They both started off as solo musicians. I can’t say that they were top charts or sung around every household. Anyway, the two “solo so long” artists got a hold of each other’s CD’s and were on THEIR top charts and sung around THIER household at least.
They met, fell in love, had some children and made some great albums. Period.

The first song I ever heard from their album “Say I Am You” was Stars.
“Tangerines are hanging heavy…”

My dad played it for me and it was good. It didn’t seem “great” like “wow” great. But the story does not end there. Somehow, slowly, don’t even know how, I fell in love with these 13 amazing (including “Stars”).

You know how sometimes the first time you listen to a song or even the 10th time is never the same as the 30th, 52nd. Yes, I have probably listened to these songs that many times. On my iPod they are always on the playlist “Top 25 Most Played”. “Nobody Know Me At All”, “Painting By Chagall”, “Citywide Rodeo”, “Slow Pony Home”…

Citywide Rodeo is about thinking that “you’re not good for anything, the world makes you feel so small”.
Originally, when I listened to this song I didn’t think about it having a meaning or what it meant. To try and post the best possible blog write up I researched the meanings of all their songs on songmeanings.com. I was surprised about how well each comment captured each song.
For this particular song there were very interesting responses. To sum it up, this song is about how we constantly judge ourselves depending on what others think of us.
“You wonder how fast you’ll go when you hit the air.” Directly quoting form songmeanings.com (pinkbullets63) “getting bucked off a bull’s back”. Basically, how much it will hurt when you are turned down by everybody.
“There’s dust in the stadium seats” meaning all the enemies that you think you have, watching you get bucked off this bull, are dusty and unoccupied. As Pinkbullet63 says you are your worst enemy, really.

I scrolled through the comments and came across Celestial Theorist’s comment:

The first verse you are a child, you fell small compared to the stage.
You start to grow up and you are now on the stage, everybody is judging, but in reality, literal or metaphorical, there is dust in the stadium seats. Nobody, just you. You wonder how fast you’ll go when you hit the air. Instead of being the great person you wanted to be you are labeled with that want. Of course, this all relates to being up on stage.
You are growing old now and you get in your car and you pick out your star. Death.

Hello everybody,
The World Cup! This year in Brazil, the World Cup, involving 32 teams, has surprised at some points, thrilled at others, and excited us all! One of the best parts about this event is that no matter if you’re on FC Barcelona or which ever team each player goes back to there native country.
In each of the 8 groups these teams are doing the best:
Brazil
Netherlands
Columbia
Costa Rica
France
Argentina
Germany
Algeria

Spain, Croatia, Greece, Uruguay, Honduras, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal, and Russia are in 4th and last place in there groups.

Let’s have a look at the best players in the World Cup right now:
Lionel Messi- Argentina (1st place in their group)
Despite being one if the best soccer players ever he’s never gotten past the quarter finals of the World Cup. The 26 year old plays in Spain on FC Barcelona.
Christiano Ronaldo- Portugal (4th place right now in their group)
Him and Lionel Messi have been in close competition for being the best soccer player in the world right now. He plays for Real Madrid, a close competitor with Lionel Messi’s team FC Barcelona.
However, right now, his team is in last place, beaten by Germany.
Neymar Jr. (1st place right now in their group)
20 million dollar salary, Neymar Jr, 22 years old, is on word the fastest growing footballers in the world. Like Lionel Messi, he’s from FC Barcelona.
Andres Iniesta- Spain (4th place in their group)
The 29 year old, despite being in last place for Spain, scored the final winning goal at the South African World Cup last World Cup. He is another great player on FC Barcelona.

Personally I am for Brazil and Argentina (Neymar and Messi)!

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarden

All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in Kindergarden. Wisdom was not at the top of thr graduate school mountain, but there in the sandbox at Sunday School. These are the things I learned:
Share everything.
Play fair.
Don’t hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don’t take things that are not yours.
Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody,
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life- learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work some everyday.
Take a nap everyday.
When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup, they all die someday. So do we.
Everything you need to know is out there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.
And it’s still true, no matter how old you are-when you go out into the world,it is best to hold bands and stick together.

There is a certain thrill as you watch the Olympics. The world is no longer about who is friends with who or enemies with who, but about the motivation and determination that enters our minds every day. For some that is winning a volleyball at school. For some it’s about beating as time. For some it’s about earning a gold metal. But’s it’s more than a promise of ice cream with friends if you win, more than a mention of your name in the local newspaper, it’s about perseverance, hope, and determination to win something bigger than yourself.

At least that’s what I think.

We forget everything in the world except for one moment, that moment. Whether you are a spectator, a coach, an athlete, you are in that moment.

As I watch them, I see the many years, many decades, many lives that have worked so hard to get to that moment, and yet, just one false move washes all of it away, gone forever. I see the few athletes in the world that were just one second away from being in the games. I see all the athletes in the world who try there best every day to succeed…

Just Breathe (Willie Nelson Cover): I first heard this song browsing YouTube for Willie Nelson songs. It was soon the only song I thought of for awhile. I not only love this song (originally by Pearl Jam), but I love the music video too. Willie Nelson sung this song with his son, Lucas Wilson.

When I first watched this movie, I didn’t pay much attention to this song, but that changed. I soon found a video of Anna Kendrick, the leading actor in Pitch Perfect, doing this type of game with cups. I found it very interesting. I was soon banging cups on tables learning this cup game. I immediately became obsessed with this video:

I took two very interesting charts from Wikipedia to show how frequent each letter is used in the English language.

In the first chart you can see the most popular letter out of all the words in the English language (remember that each letter is used in the English language., it just depends how frequently it appears in the English language) is e, than t, a, o and on. . . In the second chart it is the same statistics but just from a-z, z being the last letter and the least frequent.

The least frequent vowel is u.

The most frequent is e.

To make this fun, I have a cryptogram: All you have to do is define each letter with the numbers below. Tip: Use the charts above to conclude which letters are used the most. The number that you see used the most is probably going to be one of the top letters on the chart.

Les Miserables

Les Miserables

Les Miserables was first a French historical novel written by Victor Hugo in 1862. It was considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century.

The novel was written about a man named Jean Valjean, who for many decades has been hunted by a policeman named Javert, after having agreed to take care of a factory worker Fantine’s  daughter Cosette. This decision changes the way they  live forever. Beginning in 1815 and finishing in the 1832 June Rebellion in Paris, the novel describes the life of many throughout the French Revolution.

Les Miserables has been popularized through out numerous adaptations on stage, television, and film. The most recent being the Oscar winning film in 2012.

It won three separate Oscars including:

  • Supporting actress, Anne Hathway

  • Sound Mixing, Andy Nelson, Mark Patterson and Simon Hayes

It also won three Golden Globes.

There were many stars in this film including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Cater, Sasha Baron Cohen, Anne Hathway, Amanda Seyrfield, Eddie Redmayne, and Samantha Barks.

Directed by Tom Hoper and written by William Nicholson and Alain Boublil has been described as absolutely outstanding and breathtaking .

The Magic of Macy’s I purchased this scarf in Aix-en-Provence, France the last day I was there. I got it because I am crazy about scarfs, I especially love this one because it is a loop, my favorite! I bought some other very cute things as well that I may blog about later.

Anyway, you may be wondering why this post is named ‘The Magic of Macy’s’ (the motto of Macy’s) if I didn’t purchase it at Macy’s. Well, the other day I was shopping with my mom at Macy’s and we left a huge pile of clothes in the dressing room. Of course we looked through the big pile to make sure we had not forgotten anything that was ours. We did not notice my favorite scarf among the pile.

Right before pulling into my driveway I realized I was not wearing it.

There was that one moment in which you are not sure whether you should look if you have it in your bag or wherever or just pretend you are sure it is in the bag.

My scarf was not in the Macy’s bag.

I asked my mom.

She did not have it.

I panicked.

I was very upset after concluding that I was probably never going to see this beautiful scarf again, but I was wrong.

We called Macy’s and after a short while of describing the scarf: cream base color, it is a loop, purple and neon green flowers… Macy’s said that they had it.

I was so grateful, and even more so when I finally had it in my hands at Macy’s.

I hope I don’t lose it again!
